Shriners of North America is a fraternity with 411,000 members who belong to chapters, called temples, in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Republic of Panama.
Shriners are recognizable by the festive red fezzes that are adorned with symbols derived from the ancient brotherhood of Masonry. Tampa is home to the headquarters of both the fraternity and the network of hospitals it founded.
The 22 Shriner Hospitals, sometimes called the world’s greatest philanthropy, offer free treatment to children with certain ailments.
