TAMPA - Police in Fort Lauderdale are investigating whether a Tampa man accused of being involved in an underground sexual bondage and drug culture may be linked to the disappearances of three men in that city.

That brings to 10 the number of missing men whose disappearances are being investigated in connection with the activities of Steven Lorenzo and Scott Schweickert.

Lorenzo, of Tampa, and Schweickert, of Illinois, are being held on federal drug charges. Lorenzo is accused of drugging seven men with GHB and then torturing and sexually assaulting them. Federal authorities last week charged Schweickert with abetting Lorenzo after the fact in a crime of violence involving drugs.

A federal affidavit says Schweickert told authorities he helped Lorenzo dispose of the bodies of two men Lorenzo killed, Jason Galehouse and Michael Wachholtz. Police have also said they are investigating whether Lorenzo had anything to do with the disappearances of three other men in the Tampa area.

On Tuesday, a Fort Lauderdale detective said his department is looking into any possible connection between Lorenzo and three men who disappeared from one condominium building. Either Lorenzo or someone in his family owned property across the street from the building, but it was unclear whether Lorenzo was in town at the time the men disappeared, Detective John Curcio said.

``We're looking into all leads, and he's obviously a lead we're looking into,'' Curcio said.

The cases, as described in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, include the June 26 disappearance of Mark Douglas Jackson and the June 22, 1988, vanishing of two men who lived together, Barry A. Block and David George Rhodes.
